An effective Information Security Policy gives clear direction on information security related matters, and be supported by visible Senior Management commitment. It should be readily accessible, easy to understand and appropriate to the organisation and its activities.

This top-level policy is designed to bring together all aspects of information security management, and refers to separate, sub-ordinate information security related policies where more specific direction and information can be found.
